Fieldwork Education Resources for Clinical Educators and Students 

The Colorado OT Fieldwork Educator Consortium (COTFWEd) is a partnership bridging OT and OTA academic programs to promote excellence and innovation in fieldwork education to best serve students and the community at large.


The goals of the COTFWEd Consortium are to:

  1. Mentor and support professional development for Academic Fieldwork Coordinators

  2. Support and validate ways to problem solve and share strategies for excellence in fieldwork education

  3. Education and exploration of non-traditional sites and alternatives for fieldwork education

  4. Facilitate best practice in fieldwork education

  5. Prepare others for the role of being fieldwork educators and sites


We would like to share resources with our clinical educators and students to promote best practices in fieldwork education.

Level II Fieldwork Performance Evaluation

In 2020, the AOTA Fieldwork Performance Evaluation (AOTA FWPE) was revised and is now scored using the Formstack online portal. While it may look similar, some of the questions are different and the scoring criteria has changed. 


Here are a few of the key changes, depending on your student’s educational institution if they are using Formstack:

  • The Formstack online portal is used to score the mid-term and final AOTA FWPE. 

  • ALL questions must be scored for both mid-term and final.

  • Fieldwork educators will receive an email from [email protected]or from the academic fieldwork coordinator at the school with the link to the midterm and final. 


Midterm

  • At mid-term, there is no pass/fail score. 


Final

  • At final, the criterion for OT students passing is now 111 points (it is no longer 122). For OTA students, passing score is 91 (it is no longer 70).

  • At final, students must score a 3 or higher on questions #1, #2, and #3.

  • At final, if a student scores a 1 on any item the student may not pass.
